Grant of Additional Scholarship to OBC Students for Higher Studies, Andaman & Nicobar is a scheme by the Department of Social Welfare in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship:
- Must be an Indian citizen and a domicile of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Must belong to the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
- Must have passed Class 10 or 12 from a recognized Board of School Education.
- Must be a full-time student pursuing higher studies in any government-recognized institution approved by AICTE/UGC or equivalent bodies in India.
Eligible Courses Include:
- Graduate Degrees (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com.): All bachelor’s degree courses.
- Postgraduate Degrees (e.g., M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., M.Ed., M.Pharma.): All master’s degree courses.
- Professional Degrees (e.g., C.A., ICWA, CS, ICFA): Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountants, Company Secretary, Financial Analysts programs.
- Research Degrees (e.g., M.Phil., Ph.D., Postdoctoral): Research programs.
- Professional Fields: Includes Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Management, Computer Science, etc., at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
- Postgraduate Diploma Courses: Includes Management, Medicine, Commercial Pilot License, etc.
- Graduate/Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate Programs: Pharmacy, Nursing, LLB, BFS, Mass Communication, Hotel Management, etc., requiring Class 12 as the minimum qualification.
- Post-Matriculation (Non-Degree) Courses: ITI courses, 3-year diploma courses in polytechnics, vocational streams, etc.
Ineligibility Criteria:
- Scholarship awarded annually, subject to passing the previous year/semester.
- Misconduct or irregular attendance may lead to scholarship suspension/revocation.
- Students repeating the same education stage/level in a different subject/stream are ineligible.
- Students completing one professional course and starting another are ineligible for renewal.
- Students failing the same class for more than one year will lose eligibility.
- Postgraduate medical students are eligible only if they are not practicing medicine during their course.
Additional Notes:
- Only two children from the same family are eligible, except in cases of multiple births following a second live birth.
- Students pursuing postgraduate medical courses can receive the scholarship if they do not practice medicine during their studies.

- Passport-size photograph
- Certificates of Class X/XII Diploma/Degree etc., in respect of the qualifying examination
- Caste certificate signed by an authorized revenue officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar
- Non-creamy Layer Certificate signed by an authorized Revenue Officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar
- Income Certificate
- In case an applicant was in receipt of a scholarship under this scheme in the preceding year, receipt of acknowledgment of the scholarship in the previous year
- Copy of marks statement duly counter-signed by the Head of the Institution concerned for renewal of the scholarship
- Copy of Aadhaar Card
- First page of bank passbook
- Any other documents, as required
Scholarship Amount
Selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 for 10 months.
Application Process:
If already registered, log in using your Gmail, Mobile number, or Email ID.
- Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
- Click on the ‘Register’ button and fill in the required registration details.
If Register First Time then First visit NSP Official Website scholarships.gov.in then
- On the dashboard, navigate to the ‘Students’ option on the left-hand side and click on it.
- Click on the ‘Login’ button under the OTR (One-time Registration) option, as required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- On the left-hand side of the dashboard, click on the ‘New user? Register yourself’ button.
- Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the ‘Next’ button.
- Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
- Fill in the required details and click on ‘Save & Register’ to complete the ‘One-time registration (OTR)’ process.
- Note: This is a temporary registration number. Students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.
- After successful registration, navigate to the ‘Apply for Scholarship’ option and click on the ‘Login’ button.
- Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit.
Important Notes: Submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
